The Prison Department's tableau during the Republic Day parade in Guna sparked controversy when it depicted a young man hanging from a gallows. People were shocked by the tableau, which carried the tagline "From Krishnakaal to Mohankaal." The video is viral on social media.
Live Hanging Tableau Controversy: While the entire district was filled with patriotic fervor on Republic Day , a government tableau displayed at the parade ground in Guna, Madhya Pradesh, shocked everyone. The Prison Department's tableau depicted a young man hanging alive from a noose , leaving people stunned. This presentation, with its punchline "From Krishnakaal to Mohankaal," has now become embroiled in controversy, raising serious questions about the department's functioning.
In fact, the purpose of the tableau presented by the Prison Department at the Red Parade Ground was to showcase the changes taking place in prisons. One section depicted Lord Krishna in the lap of Vasudeva, while another depicted a live young man being hanged with a noose around his neck. The scene was so horrifying that even the people present, officials, and the chief guest were stunned.
The chief guest was also stunned.
Minister in Charge Govind Singh Rajput, who was the chief guest at the event, was stunned by the scene. However, he refrained from commenting immediately, keeping in mind the dignity of the Republic Day celebrations on the stage. But the question that resonated among the people was: how was such a risky performance permitted?
Questions raised on controversial punchline
The prison department used the tagline "From Krishna's time to Mohan's time" in its tableau. Experts say that hanging a living person with such a sensitive punchline is highly inappropriate. A mannequin could have been used for the symbolic presentation, but the department endangered the life of a young man by showing a "live" scene.
In the video, officers are seen standing near the noose.
People present at the scene reported that jail officials were standing near the noose hanging from the young man in the tableau and posing for photographs. This is clearly visible in a video circulating on social media. This has raised questions about the department's sensitivity and responsibility.
“This is a symbolic depiction of Bhagat Singh”
When the Superintendent of the Prison Department was questioned about this controversial presentation, he clarified that the young man was depicted as Bhagat Singh. He claimed that a thick wire was placed behind the noose to prevent any risk. The Superintendent also stated that a similar tableau was presented in 2018.
Following the incident, serious questions have arisen as to whether it was appropriate to show such a sensitive and risky scene at a government event. All eyes are now on the administration and government's actions.
