Former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan has strongly condemned misleading and fake posts circulating on social media regarding his personal life, days after news of his second marriage gained widespread attention.
Dhawan recently married Sophie Shine, an Ireland-born professional, after dating for nearly a year and a half. The couple got engaged last month, marking a new chapter in the cricketer’s life following his divorce from Ayesha Mukherjee in October 2023.
Since the announcement, several viral posts have falsely attributed statements to Dhawan about his first marriage, prompting the former India star to publicly respond. Taking to the social media platform X, Dhawan clarified that he has never spoken negatively about his past and urged people not to misuse his name for online engagement.
“I have come across some posts on social media attributing disappointing statements to my personal life,” Dhawan wrote. “I have never carried baggage from the past, be it on the pitch or outside. I firmly believe in the power of positivity while respecting my past. This is a new chapter in my life, and I am grateful for the love and blessings I have received. I request people not to exploit my name for clickbait and false statements.”
Dhawan has previously spoken openly about missing time with his son, Zoravar, following a prolonged legal battle over custody. However, he has consistently refrained from making any adverse remarks about his former spouse, earning him praise for maintaining dignity during a difficult phase of his life.
Who Is Sophie Shine?
Sophie Shine hails from Ireland and completed her schooling at Castleroy College before earning a degree in Marketing and Management from the Limerick Institute of Technology. She currently serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Da One Sports and is also associated with the Shikhar Dhawan Foundation, where she plays a key leadership role. Shine has been residing in India for some time and has been actively involved in professional and philanthropic initiatives.
As Dhawan steps into a new phase both personally and professionally, his message remains clear—respect the past, embrace positivity, and refrain from spreading misinformation in the pursuit of online attention.
