PM Awas Yojana: If you live in a rented house in a city or have not yet been able to build your own home due to financial constraints, the central government has brought you a great opportunity. The government has launched the next phase of its ambitious scheme, Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0.
Under this scheme, all preparations have been made to provide permanent homes to 10 million new urban families across the country. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has also shared the official announcement of this scheme on its Twitter handle, 'X', urging people to apply as soon as possible.

Who can avail the benefits of this scheme?
The main objective of this scheme is to fulfill the dream of owning a home for poor and middle-class families. Priority will be given to the following categories.
- Families without pucca houses: The scheme will benefit only those urban families who do not own a pucca house anywhere in the country.
- EWS (Economically Weaker Section): The most backward and poor families of the society will get first priority in this.
- LIG (Low Income Group): Low and middle income families are also covered under this scheme so that they can also buy their own house.
What documents are required to apply?
Before filling the PMAY-U 2.0 form, make sure that you have all the documents given below ready, so that there is no problem at the time of application.
- Identity and citizenship details of the applicant (such as ID card)
- Identification details of all family members
- Applicant's current/active bank account (Bank Account Details)
- Income Certificate
- Important land documents (if you are building a house on your own land)
How to apply?
If you fulfill all the conditions of this scheme, then there are two very easy ways to apply.
- First Method (Online Portal): You can fill the online form directly by visiting the official website of the scheme pmay-urban.gov.in.
- Second method (QR Code): You can also directly reach the application page by scanning the QR code given in the official post issued by the Ministry from your mobile.
