Sambhal Tragedy: Stray Dogs Maul 9-Year-Old Girl to Death, Village in Shock

A heartbreaking incident has been reported from Sambhal, where a nine-year-old girl lost her life after being attacked by a pack of stray dogs. The incident occurred on Sunday evening in Pota village, under the Hazratnagar Garhi area of Uttar Pradesh.

The victim, Riya Gautam, daughter of Vinod, had gone to nearby fields with her mother and grandmother to collect fodder. While the elders were busy gathering grass, Riya was left momentarily alone. Taking advantage of the situation, a group of stray dogs attacked her and dragged her into a wheat field.

According to family members, the dogs brutally mauled the child, tearing off her left hand and inflicting severe injuries across her body. Hearing her screams, her mother and grandmother rushed to save her, but by the time they reached, the dogs had already caused fatal injuries.

The girl was immediately taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her brought dead. The family is devastated and inconsolable following the tragedy.

The police took the body into custody and sent it for post-mortem examination. Officials said further legal action is being taken as per procedure.

The incident has triggered fear and anger across the village. Residents say stray dogs have been a serious problem in the area for a long time, with several people injured in past attacks. Villagers allege that despite repeated complaints to the authorities, no effective action was taken, and the situation was ignored—ultimately leading to this tragic loss of life.
