Sabudana Bonda Recipe: If you want to eat something different and tasty during fasting days, then Sabudana Bonda is a great option. This is a snack that is crispy from outside and soft from inside. Sabudana Bonda is not only delicious in taste but also fills the stomach and is full of energy. Especially during fasting days like Navratri, Ekadashi or Mahashivratri, this is a quick dish that everyone likes. So let's know its easiest recipe.
Ingredients required for Sabudana Bonda
- Sabudana – 1 cup soaked
- Boiled potatoes – 2 medium size
- Peanuts – 1/2 cup roasted and coarsely ground
- Green chillies – 2 finely chopped
- Ginger – 1 small piece grated
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp finely chopped
- Rock salt - as per taste
- Lemon juice – 1 tsp (optional)
- Black pepper powder – one-fourth teaspoon
- Arrowroot or water chestnut flour - 2 tbsp for binding
- Ghee or oil - for frying
How to make Sabudana Bonda
- First of all, soak the sabudana in water for 3-4 hours or overnight. Make sure that the sabudana becomes soft and there is no water left in it. Later, press it lightly with your hand and make it coarse.
- In a large bowl, add soaked sago, mashed boiled potatoes, coarsely ground peanuts, green chillies, ginger, green coriander, rock salt, lemon juice, black pepper powder and arrowroot and mix well.
- Now make small balls of the size of bonda from this mixture. If the mixture is too wet then add some more arrowroot or water chestnut flour so that the bonda does not break.
- Heat ghee or oil in a pan. When the oil is hot enough, add bondas one by one and fry them on medium flame until they become golden and crispy. Do not turn them again and again, otherwise they may break.
- Drain the fried sabudana bonda on a tissue paper to drain out the excess oil. Then serve them hot with curd, peanut chutney or green chutney.
Some tips for making Sabudana Bonda
- While making Bonda, if the mixture is loose then do not add too much arrowroot, just mix it little by little.
- Instead of peanuts, you can also use chopped cashews
- You can also make Bonda in an air fryer if you want less oil.
