An incident of alleged daylight violence has come to light in Roorkee, Uttarakhand, raising serious concerns about public safety. In the Piran Kaliyar Police Station area, a young man was chased, assaulted, and allegedly abducted briefly by a group of men. Videos of the incident, including CCTV footage, are circulating widely on social media.

Incident Near Ganga Canal Bridge

According to initial reports, the victim had left home in the morning for work with his handcart. As he reached the old Ganga Canal bridge, a group of men allegedly lying in wait stopped him. On noticing them, the youth attempted to flee, but the attackers chased him.

Assault Inside Guesthouse

In an attempt to save himself, the victim ran into a nearby guesthouse, shouting for help. However, the attackers allegedly followed him inside and continued the assault. CCTV footage from the guesthouse reportedly shows the youth being beaten. After the assault, the accused allegedly forced him onto a cart and attempted to take him away.

Police Intervention Prevents Further Harm

The victim’s brother alerted the police by calling the emergency helpline 112. Police reached the spot promptly and rescued the youth. Officials said timely intervention prevented a potentially more serious outcome.

Complaint Filed, Investigation Underway

The victim has submitted a written complaint at the Piran Kaliyar police station. Police have initiated an investigation and are working to identify the accused using CCTV footage and viral videos. Statements of witnesses are also being recorded.
