Rhea Chakraborty has spoken candidly about her difficult past and the trolling she has faced while participating in the second season of The Traitors. During the show, the actress revealed why she did not want to take on the role of a traitor, saying that she has already spent years being viewed negatively by the public.
Rhea has previously spoken about the impact that the controversy surrounding the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput had on her personal and professional life. She faced intense media scrutiny, investigations and online trolling during that period.
Rhea Reveals Why She Doesn't Want to Be a Traitor
During the fifth episode of The Traitors 2, Shweta Tiwari asked Rhea why she wasn't a traitor.
Rhea explained that she did not want to deliberately betray people on the reality show because, according to her, she has already been portrayed as a “traitor” in her real life.
She also expressed concern that taking on the role could lead to another wave of memes and trolling.
“The World Already Sees Me as a Traitor”
Rhea reportedly told the contestants that the reason she didn't want to become a traitor was connected to her personal journey.
She described herself as one of the most trolled people in the country and said that she did not want to intentionally betray someone as part of a television game.
The actress also maintained that she doesn't simply follow the crowd or allow herself to be easily influenced.
Rhea Says She Has Been Under Suspicion for Years
Rhea has previously addressed the scrutiny she faced during the controversy surrounding Sushant Singh Rajput's death.
During an earlier conversation with host Karan Johar on the show, she said that she wanted to be an innocent contestant rather than a traitor.
She also referred to the closure of the case and said that she had spent years under suspicion and no longer wanted to be associated with that feeling.
Rhea Survives Elimination
Despite the discussion surrounding her role in the game, Rhea was not eliminated in the fifth episode.
Parul Gulati was ultimately eliminated, while the remaining traitors mentioned in the episode included Kullu, Krystle D'Souza and Shehnaaz Gill. Harman Singha had previously been exposed as a traitor in the third episode.
Rhea's Emotional Side Gets Attention
Rhea's comments have added another emotional dimension to her appearance on The Traitors 2. Instead of simply discussing strategy and gameplay, she has repeatedly connected the show's concept of betrayal with experiences from her own life.
Her decision to distance herself from the traitor role appears to be influenced not only by the game but also by how strongly the word has been associated with her public image over the years.
For now, Rhea remains in the competition, and viewers will have to wait and see whether her strategy of playing as an innocent contestant helps her survive further rounds.
