The government has now taken a strict stance regarding irregularities in the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS). A special investigation has been initiated at the headquarters level, in which doctors from the surgery, orthopedics, psychiatry, and pulmonary departments at Kalyan Hospital are scrutinizing prescriptions under the scheme. Another lab at the district headquarters has now also come under the scrutiny.
An audit conducted using artificial intelligence has revealed a large number of prescriptions in these hospital departments that over-prescribe expensive tests and medications, even though these tests were not necessary based on the patient's prescription and symptoms. These cases are then being compared to medical guidelines and claim records.
Being called on the basis of slip
Doctors are being called directly by the headquarters based on the prescriptions. They are being questioned about the handwriting and the reasons for prescribing the tests. According to the investigation being conducted at the headquarters, any irregularities found in the scheme will result in suspension and recovery. A departmental inquiry will also be conducted.
Preparation of FIR
After auditing the 2023 and 2024 RGHS scheme files, the 2025 audit is now underway. Preparations are underway to file an FIR through the Special Operations Group (SOG) regarding the serious irregularities discovered during the audit. A doctor, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that officials have clearly stated that negligence and manipulation in the scheme will not be tolerated at any level.
