The process of obtaining an RC online is quite simple. To download a digital RC, you don't need any bulky files; you just need the vehicle's registration number and the last five digits of the chassis number. You also need the number that's linked to the registration number.

Get RC online like this
- To get your digital RC, you will have to visit the mParivahan app and parivahan.gov.in portal.
- Select the 'RC Download' or 'Vehicle Related Services' option from the menu.
Enter your vehicle's registration number. - Enter the last 5 digits of your vehicle's chassis number.
- After this, an OTP will come on your mobile number which is registered in RTO.
- As soon as you enter the OTP, the digital copy of your RC will appear on the screen.
Will this digital RC work everywhere?
This is a big question that often comes to people's mind. The answer is yes! According to Indian government regulations, digital documents (such as copies stored in DigiLocker or the m-Parivahan app) are completely valid during traffic checks. You can show them to the police. However, it's always a safer option to have a printed copy with you when handling major paperwork or selling your vehicle.

The most important link in this entire process is your mobile number. If the number you provided when purchasing your vehicle is now disabled, the OTP will not arrive and you will not be able to download the RC. In such a case, you will first need to update your mobile number on the portal.
