The central government provides subsidized food grains to needy citizens under the National Food Security Act. To benefit from this scheme, eligible citizens must have a valid ration card. Meanwhile, ration card holders have been instructed to complete the e-KYC process.
Pratapgarh district in Uttar Pradesh is reportedly leading the way in implementing ration card e-KYC. According to data, Pratapgarh has over 500,000 ration card holders. This includes 74,190 Antyodaya card holders, and the remaining card holders are in the household category. Pratapgarh leads the Prayagraj division in completing e-KYC.
Where can e-KYC are done for a ration card?
Importantly, eKYC doesn't have to be done only in the district or state where the ration card was issued. For example, if a person's ration card is from Kanpur and they currently live in Delhi, the e-KYC process can be completed from Delhi as well.
Beneficiaries can visit the nearest government ration shop to complete the eKYC process through a POS machine. It's essential to bring your Aadhaar card with you. Alternatively, eKYC can also be completed by visiting a nearby CSC center or the relevant District Food and Supply Office. The deadline for eKYC is December 31st. It's advised that failing to complete eKYC may impact the name on the ration card.
