Ramayan Katha: Rama performed special puja of Goddess Durga to defeat Ravana, read the story

Hindu scriptures contain many inspiring stories of Lord Rama's devotion, sacrifice, and dignity. One such famous incident is that Lord Rama worshipped Goddess Durga before conquering Lanka. It is believed that to defeat a powerful warrior like Ravana, Lord Rama performed a special puja, Akaal Bodhan, to Goddess Durga during Sharadiya Navratri. It is said that when the blue lotus disappeared during the puja, Lord Rama decided to offer his eyes. Let's learn more about this story.

When did Goddess Durga awaken?
According to the mythology of the Ramayana, Ravana was a great devotee of Lord Shiva and possessed immense power. Defeating him in battle was not an easy task. Therefore, Vibhishana advised Lord Rama that worshiping Goddess Durga was essential to defeating Ravana. During Sharadiya Navratri, Lord Rama awakened Akal Bodhan and began worshipping her. This worship was essential to conquer Lanka.

108 Blue Lotuses and the Goddess's Test
As per the resolution of the puja, Lord Shri Ram had to offer 108 blue lotuses to the Goddess. When the puja was in its final stage, Maa Durga decided to test Lord Ram's unwavering devotion. Due to the Goddess's magic, one blue lotus disappeared from the place of worship. When Ram saw that the 108th blue lotus was missing, instead of getting upset, he decided to fulfill his intention. He was named Kamal Nayan. He decided to offer one of his eyes to the Goddess in the form of a blue lotus.

When Lord
Rama raised his arrow to shoot out his eye, Goddess Durga appeared. Pleased with Lord Rama's selfless devotion and unwavering dedication, she took his hand and blessed him with victory over Ravana.

Ravana's Mistake and Rama's Victory
While Lord Rama was meditating on the power of selflessness, Ravana was also reciting Chandi to ensure his victory. Meanwhile, Ravana's arrogance and a minor mistake in reciting the mantras during the puja led to his defeat. The Goddess left Ravana and joined Lord Rama, who was following the path of righteousness, and ultimately, Ravana was destroyed.
