New Delhi. The Railways will offer a 3 percent discount on unreserved tickets purchased through the RailOne app and paid through any digital mode from January 14 to July 14, 2026. Currently, a 3 percent cashback is offered on booking unreserved tickets through R-Wallet payments on the RailOne app.

According to a ministry letter dated December 30, 2026, addressed to the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS), necessary software updates should be issued to enable the discount feature. "To promote digital booking, it has been decided to provide a discount of 3 per cent on booking of unreserved tickets through all digital payment modes on the RailOne app," the letter said.

The ministry further said, "The proposal for 3 per cent discount (Railway Ticket Cashback) will be applicable during the period from 14.01.2026 to 14.07.2026. CRIS will submit its response on this proposal in May for further examination." Officials clarified that the existing 3 per cent cashback on R Wallet transactions will remain unchanged.

This discount will be available only on RailOne app

Officials also clarified that this benefit is available only on the RailOne app. "In the current system, prospective passengers purchasing unreserved tickets on the RailOne app and paying through R-Wallet are given a 3 per cent cashback. However, in the new offer, a 3 per cent discount will be given to those purchasing unreserved tickets through all digital payment modes on RailOne," an official said. This offer will not be applicable on any other platform used for online booking of unreserved tickets.

Indian Railways plans to double the initial capacity of trains

The Railway Ministry recently stated that given the rapid and sustained growth in travel, it is necessary to double the capacity of new trains operating from major cities over the next five years. The ministry also stated that existing infrastructure will need to be further strengthened to meet the requirements of the coming years.

Highlighting the works required to double the arrival capacity by 2030, it plans to enhance existing terminals with additional platforms, identify and construct new terminals in and around urban areas, build maintenance facilities including mega coaching complexes and increase sectional capacity with traffic facilitation works.

How to book tickets from RaiOne App

• First of all download RailOne app and login using your IRCTC/UTS ID.
• On the home screen, find the “Unreserved Tickets” (or UTS) option and tap on it.
• Select the station you are booking from and the station you want to travel to.
• Select the ticket type (journey/platform) and class (for example, second class).
• Enter passenger details (Adult/Child).
• Tap Book Tickets.
• Pay using your R-Wallet (rechargeable inside the app) or other payment options.

A ticket with a QR code will then be generated and saved in the "Booked Tickets" section of the app. Show this digital ticket (including the QR code) to the ticket checker (TTE).
