Indian Railways is embarking on a major change to improve the digital experience for its passengers. If you frequently travel by train and use mobile apps for ticket booking, this news is very important for you. The Railways' old "UTS" app will be discontinued on March 1, 2026, and a new "super app" will take over.

This change is designed to facilitate rail passengers so they don't have to navigate between different apps for different services. Let's explore this new rule in detail and how you'll need to book tickets now.

What is going to change from March 1?

Until now, Indian Railways passengers used the 'IRCTC Rail Connect' app for reservations and the 'UTS' app for general or platform tickets. However, the UTS app will be completely decommissioned starting March 1st. The Railways has now introduced a new unified platform, RailOne, for all these services.

The railways' goal is to provide passengers with all services under one roof, following the "One Nation, One App" approach. After March 1st, the UTS app will no longer allow new tickets to be booked or season passes (MST) renewed.

Features of RailOne App

RailOne isn't just a simple app, it's a unified suite of all the railway's digital services. It brings together the following features:

Reserved and Unreserved Tickets: Now you will be able to book Sleeper, AC as well as General and Platform tickets through this single app.
Live Train Status: Information about the exact location and platform number of your train will now be available on this app.
PNR Status and Coach Position: It will now be easy to check whether the ticket is confirmed or not and where your coach will be attached in the train.
Ordering Food: 'E-Catering' service has also been added to this app to order food at your seat during the journey.
Grievance Redressal: Rail Madad has also been integrated in it, through which you can directly register any problem during the journey.

3% discount will be available on digital payment

To encourage passengers to use this new app, the Railways is also offering a special offer. If you book a general (unreserved) ticket through the RailOne app and use digital payment methods such as UPI, debit card, or net banking, you will receive a 3 percent discount on the ticket amount. This offer is currently valid until July 14, 2026.

What will happen to the old wallet balance?

Many passengers using the UTS app have this question in their mind that what will happen to the money kept in their 'R-Wallet'. Railways has clarified that your money is completely safe. As soon as you download the RailOne app and login with your old mobile number, your previous wallet balance will automatically be reflected in the new app.

This step of Railways will reduce the clutter of apps on the mobile phones of the passengers and will make the ticket booking process faster and more secure than before. If you have not downloaded the new app yet, then install it before the deadline of 1 March and update yourself with its settings.
