Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding immediate relief and rehabilitation package for the citizens of Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir affected by Pakistani firing. During his visit to Poonch, he saw the plight of the victims and urged the central government to make a comprehensive plan for the affected areas. He expressed deep grief over the loss of hundreds of homes and lives and appealed for immediate action.
Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding relief and rehabilitation package for the citizens affected by the recent Pakistani firing in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. Rahul Gandhi recently visited Poonch, where he met the affected families and took stock of their situation.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Rahul Gandhi said, I recently visited Poonch, where 14 people, including four children, were tragically killed and dozens were seriously injured in Pakistani firing. This indiscriminate attack has caused massive destruction in civilian areas.
He wrote that hundreds of houses, shops, schools and religious places have been completely or partially destroyed, and many families have lost their years of hard work and life savings in one stroke.
Demand for relief-rehabilitation package for the affected people
Rahul Gandhi further said in his letter that the people of Poonch and other border areas have been living in peace and brotherhood for decades. He wrote, today when they are going through this deep crisis, it is our human and national duty to understand their pain and provide all possible help to rebuild their lives.

The Congress leader urged the central government to prepare a comprehensive and effective relief and rehabilitation plan for Poonch and other border areas affected by the firing from Pakistan.

He also shared an emotional video message on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), showing his interaction with affected people during his visit to Poonch.
He wrote, the pain of Poonch can only be felt by going there. Broken homes, shattered lives, the echo of this pain echoes with only one voice - we Indians are one. This is not help, it is a duty. He wrote that I am not requesting, but reminding the government of its responsibility - a solid, generous and immediate relief and rehabilitation package should be prepared for Poonch and other areas affected by Pakistan's shelling.
