The case is from Devgan village, under the Katra police station area of ​​Muzaffarpur district. Harsida Khatoon, wife of Mohammad Ali, a resident of the village, filed a complaint at the Katra police station in 2013, alleging that on May 11th, her minor daughter, Gulnaz Khatoon, had left for school with her sister. She took leave midway through the school journey and never returned home.

The mother of the minor girl Gulnaz, who had eloped with her cousin,
had accused Rakesh Thakur, a resident of Singhwada police station area of ​​Darbhanga district, who lived in her own village, of kidnapping her daughter. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and started investigation, but for years no concrete clue was found. When the police reached the missing girl after about 13 years, they were themselves surprised. The investigation revealed that the girl had eloped from home with her cousin Abdul, who lived in her neighborhood, and she is currently the mother of 4 children.

According to sources, Gulnaz and Abdul were in a love relationship before running away from home. It is said that they planned to elope and had been living together ever since. Several police officers have investigated
the case since 2013 and searched for the woman, but none have been successful in locating her. Finally, Sub-Inspector Rani Kumari, posted at Katra police station, recovered the woman from Dargah Chowk in her own jurisdiction after 13 years. Following her recovery, the woman was produced in court to record her statement under Section 164. Following the recording of her statement, she was handed over to her husband in accordance with the court's instructions.
