The PM Vishwakarma scheme has completed three years, and the government has announced a major milestone. More than 30 lakh traditional artisans and craftspeople have now registered under the scheme after completing the prescribed three-stage verification process.

Launched on September 17, 2023, the scheme aims to provide comprehensive support to traditional artisans through skill training, modern tools, concessional loans and marketing assistance.

For people working in traditional trades, the scheme can provide support at several stages — from improving skills and purchasing tools to accessing institutional credit.

What is the PM Vishwakarma scheme?

PM Vishwakarma is a Central Government scheme designed specifically for traditional artisans and craftspeople.

It covers 18 identified traditional trades and provides a package of benefits intended to help artisans improve their productivity, income and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Beneficiaries receive recognition through a PM Vishwakarma certificate and identity card, along with access to skill development, toolkit incentives, credit support, digital transaction incentives and marketing assistance.
