The central government has launched the PM Ujjwala scheme, a special scheme for women. It helps women get rid of the smoke from stoves. Women are provided with free gas cylinder connections and subsidies. The central government launched this scheme in 2016. Under this scheme, a subsidy of ₹300 is provided for nine cylinders.

Each cylinder costs ₹300. However, due to the current situation, women are now forced to use the stove. Women in rural areas will receive their cylinders after 45 to 50 days, allowing them to afford them more effectively. Furthermore, the free cylinders under the Annapurna Scheme have not yet been distributed.

Each year, 12 subsidized gas cylinders are available. The limit is 34 cylinders containing five kilograms of gas. However, currently, due to Uddhav Thackeray, there is a shortage. Therefore, at least one gas cylinder will be available each month. A 45-day gap has been established between gas bookings. Therefore, gas bookings can be made after about a month and a half. Because of this, women will have to light the stove once again.

Annapurna Scheme

Decisions regarding the Annapurna Scheme were made on July 30, 2024, and September 4, 2024. According to this, 5.216 million women in the state were expected to receive three free gas cylinders each year. However, even after a year and a half, women have not received a single free gas cylinder.
