The central government 's "PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana," launched to provide relief from rising electricity bills and promote green energy, is benefiting millions of families across the country. Under the scheme, the central government is sending substantial subsidies directly to bank accounts for rooftop solar installations.
 
How much subsidy is available?

On 1kW system: Subsidy up to ₹30,000.  

On 2kW system: Subsidy up to ₹60,000.  

For capacity of 3kW or more: Maximum financial assistance of ₹78,000.  

Who can avail the benefits of the scheme?

It is mandatory for the applicant to be an Indian citizen.  

The applicant must have a pucca house and suitable rooftop space for installing solar panels.  

The electricity connection should be in the name of the applicant.

Bank account must be linked to Aadhar card.  

Very easy process to apply:

Visit the official portal pmsuryaghar.gov.in.  
Register by entering your state, electricity distribution company (DISCOM), and consumer number.  
Fill out the 'Rooftop Solar' application form and wait for approval.  
Once approved by the DISCOM, have the solar panels installed by an empanelled vendor.

After net-metering, the subsidy amount will be credited directly to your bank account.
