While millions of farmers across the country are still waiting for the 22nd installment of the PM Kisan Yojana, many people in Uttar Pradesh have received a surprise credit of ₹1 lakh directly into their bank accounts.

This amount is not related to PM Kisan. Instead, it has been transferred under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana–Urban (PMAY-U). The central government has released the new beneficiary list for 2026, and based on this list, financial assistance is being provided for house construction.

First Installment Credited to Lakhs of Beneficiaries

The first installment under PM Awas Yojana–Urban 2.0 has now started reaching beneficiaries’ bank accounts. On January 18, 2026, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath digitally transferred ₹1 lakh each to the accounts of nearly 2 lakh beneficiaries during a major event held in Lucknow.

Under this phase, the government is distributing a total of ₹2,000 crore as housing assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). If you had applied for PMAY-U, there is a strong chance that the amount has already been credited to your account—or will be credited soon.

PM Awas Yojana Installment Structure Explained

Under the Beneficiary-Led Construction (BLC) category of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, financial assistance is released in three installments:

• First installment: 40% of the total amount

• Second installment: 40%

• Third installment: Remaining 20%, released near completion of the house

This time, beneficiaries have received a substantial first installment of ₹1 lakh, enabling them to start construction work immediately without financial delays.

• Applicants selected under PMAY-Urban 2.0

• Beneficiaries whose names appear in the 2026 housing list

• Those who have completed verification and documentation
