The half-burnt body of a senior woman lawyer of the Patna High Court was found inside her residence in the Kadam Kuan area of Patna, prompting a police investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding her death.
The deceased has been identified as Indira Laxmi, around 60 years old, who practiced law at both the Patna High Court and the Civil Court. She was found dead at her house on Rajendra Nagar Road No. 2 under the jurisdiction of Kadam Kuan police station on Wednesday. The incident caused panic in the locality after the discovery was reported.
Upon receiving information, a police team reached the spot, took custody of the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team was also called to the scene to collect evidence.
Police officials said that Indira Laxmi lived alone at the residence, while her husband reportedly resides in Ranchi, Jharkhand. The circumstances under which the body was found have raised suspicion, and investigators are examining whether the death was caused by an accident, suicide, or a possible criminal act.
Family members of the deceased have been informed, and statements are expected to be recorded as part of the inquiry. Police officials stated that no official conclusion has been reached so far and that all angles are being thoroughly investigated.
Further details are expected after the post-mortem report and forensic analysis are completed.
