Aamir Khan’s latest release Sitare Zameen Par is not just winning at the box office but also touching hearts across the country. Joining the list of admirers is Panchayat 4 actress Sanvikaa, known for playing the beloved character Rinki. The actress recently opened up about how Aamir’s film emotionally moved her and why she feels it’s a significant contribution to Indian cinema.
Sanvikaa revealed that she has been a long-time admirer of Aamir Khan’s work and has watched many of his films. But Sitare Zameen Par, she said, left a particularly deep impact. “I really liked his latest film… Sitare Zameen Par. I think it was very important to bring such content,” she shared in a recent interview. Calling the film an important step away from typical commercial cinema, she said, “Right now, everything is about formula—fighting, violence. So bringing something like this and experimenting with it was much needed. I think it’s a very well-made film.”
The story of Sitare Zameen Par revolves around Gulshan Arora, an irate basketball coach played by Aamir Khan, who is suspended from his job and assigned community service. His punishment leads him to coach a group of athletes with intellectual disabilities — a journey that transforms not just the team but also Gulshan himself. The film serves as both a spiritual successor to Aamir's 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par and a Hindi adaptation of the Spanish film Campeones.
Aamir Khan himself has been overwhelmed by the audience’s love for the film. He recently said, “I am really very happy and grateful. More than me, those ten stars are happy because it is their film and it is a hit. We are very grateful.”
Despite stiff competition from other big releases like Maa and Kannappa, Sitare Zameen Par continues to perform strongly at the box office. Sanvikaa’s heartfelt praise only echoes what many fans and critics are saying — this is a film that India needed right now.
