National Herald Case: Sonia and Rahul's troubles will increase, Delhi court issued notice

Sonia and Rahul Gandhi's troubles have increased in the National Herald money laundering case. Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court has issued a notice in this case today (Friday). This notice has been issued for Sonia, Rahul and others.
Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court issues notice to Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and others on chargesheet filed against them by Enforcement Directorate in National Herald money laundering case.
The next hearing of this case has been fixed for May 8. The court said that Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other proposed accused have the right to be heard at the time of cognizance of the charge sheet. The right to be heard at any stage is necessary to ensure a fair trial, which emphasizes the need to issue notice.

- 20 November 1937: Associated Journals Limited (AJL) is established and registered as a company.
- 9 September 1938: Jawaharlal Nehru launched the National Herald newspaper.
- 1962-63: 0.3365 acres of land was allotted to AJL at Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg near ITO.
- 22 March 2002: Motilal Vora was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of AJL.
- 2008: The newspaper ceases operations after AJL incurs huge losses.
- December 2010: News emerged that AJL owed Congress Rs 90 crore.
- 29 December 2010: As per documents filed with the Registrar of Companies, the number of shareholders of AJL on this date was 1057.
- February 26, 2011: Congress gives loan of Rs 90 crore to AJL.
- 2011: Young India Ltd pays just Rs 50 lakh to AJL to acquire the right to recover Rs 90 crore.
- Young India waived off this loan and Young India gained control of AJL.
- 1 November 2012: Subramanian Swamy filed a private complaint in Patiala House Court.
- 2 November 2012: Congress clarified that it had given loan to AJL to revive National Herald newspaper.
- 2014: ED starts investigating the case to probe money laundering in the case after the trial court took cognizance of a private complaint by Subramanian Swamy.
- 26 June 2014: The court summons Sonia and Rahul Gandhi as accused.
- 19 December 2015: Patiala House Metropolitan Magistrate granted regular bail to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi.
- 2016: Supreme Court refuses to quash action against Congress leaders.
- 5 October 2016: Land and Development Office issued a notice to AJL stating that AJL property was not being used for press purposes.
- October 2018: Delhi High Court orders AJL to vacate Herald House on Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg.
- 1 June 2022: ED sent notice to Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi to appear. Both were questioned by ED in this case.
