A heartbreaking incident has been reported from Mohjama village in Muzaffarpur, Bihar. A four-year-old girl, Shivani, lost her life after being violently attacked by a pet bulldog belonging to a locally influential family. The incident occurred on Tuesday in the Paru police station area.
According to police and family statements, Shivani was on her way to a temple with her siblings to attend a puja when the attack happened. A young man from a powerful family was walking his bulldog on a chain when he reportedly lost control. The dog lunged at the children. While two managed to run to safety, Shivani could not escape.
The bulldog inflicted severe injuries to the child's head. She was rushed first to the local Community Health Centre (CHC) for initial treatment and was later referred to SKMCH due to the seriousness of her condition. Despite efforts by doctors, she died on Wednesday during treatment.
The victim’s father, Kamlesh Sahni, told authorities that the family owning the dog had purchased two bulldogs just 15 days earlier from the Sonepur fair. Shivani was the youngest among her siblings.
Paru Police Station Officer Chandan Kumar confirmed that the police have taken note of the incident. He stated that legal action will be initiated once a formal complaint is filed by the girl’s family.
This tragic incident has sparked concern among local residents about the rising number of pet dog attacks and the lack of proper training and control in such cases.
