A tragic incident in the Krishnanagar area of Lucknow has cast a pall of gloom over the locality after a 13-year-old Class 7 student was shot dead under suspicious circumstances during a birthday gathering. What began as a celebratory evening ended in irreparable loss for the bereaved family.

Called Out for Celebration, Returned as a Victim

The deceased, identified as Unaiz, was the son of Jamir Khan, a resident of Sarojini Nagar who runs an electrical shop. According to family members, a few of Unaiz’s friends arrived at his home on Monday evening and invited him to attend a birthday party in the neighbourhood. Trusting them, the teenager left home around evening hours.

At approximately 6:30 pm, the family received a distressing phone call informing them that a गोली (gunshot) had been fired at the party and that Unaiz had sustained critical injuries. He was reportedly shot in the head. The news left the family shattered.

Father Levels Serious Allegations

Jamir Khan has alleged that his son was deliberately targeted as part of a conspiracy. He claimed that Unaiz was taken to the birthday celebration of the nephew of one Sanjeev Tripathi and was subsequently shot. The grieving father has demanded strict action, asserting that the incident was not accidental but a premeditated act.

Family members have questioned how a firearm reached the hands of minors and under what circumstances it was brought to a birthday gathering.

Police Investigation Underway

Upon receiving information, local police rushed to the spot and initiated an inquiry. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) Nipun Agarwal, preliminary findings suggest the possibility of an accidental firing. Police sources stated that four minors were present at the party, and during handling of an illegal weapon—either in play or due to negligence—a shot was discharged, striking Unaiz.

Authorities have detained three minor boys who were present at the gathering and are questioning them to ascertain the source of the weapon and the sequence of events. A case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the deceased’s family, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

Security Questions Surface

The incident has triggered widespread concern regarding access to illegal firearms among minors in the state capital. Questions are being raised about the ease with which children are able to procure weapons and the apparent lapse in supervision.

Residents in the area have expressed shock and anger, demanding accountability and stronger enforcement measures. As the investigation progresses, the police face mounting pressure to determine whether the shooting was indeed accidental or the result of a deeper rivalry or conspiracy.
