Mid-Size SUV Sales: Hyundai Creta Tops the Segment Again

The mid-size SUV segment in India remains one of the most competitive automobile markets, with several popular models fighting for a place in the top-selling list. According to the February 2026 sales data, one SUV once again dominated the segment and outperformed strong rivals like the Mahindra Scorpio and Kia Seltos.


Creta Holds the No.1 Position

The Hyundai Creta continued its strong performance and secured the top position in the mid-size SUV segment.

  • February 2026 sales: 17,938 units

  • February 2025 sales: 16,317 units

  • Year-on-year growth: about 10%

The SUV from Hyundai Motor India remains extremely popular due to its modern design, feature-rich cabin, and strong engine options.


No.2 Spot: Mahindra Scorpio Range

The second position went to the Mahindra Scorpio lineup, which includes the Scorpio N and Scorpio Classic.

  • February 2025 sales: 13,618 units

  • Growth: around 8%

The SUV continues to attract buyers because of its strong road presence and powerful performance.


No.3 Spot: Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara

At the third position is the mid-size SUV from Maruti Suzuki.

  • February 2026 sales: 13,021 units

Despite being a relatively new entrant, the SUV is performing well thanks to its mild-hybrid and strong-hybrid petrol options, which offer better fuel efficiency.


No.4 Spot: Kia Seltos

The Kia Seltos secured the fourth position in February 2026.

  • February 2026 sales: 10,308 units

  • February 2025 sales: 6,446 units

  • Growth: about 60%

The rise in sales is largely due to the new generation model and upgraded features introduced by Kia India.


No.5 Spot: Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder

The SUV from Toyota Motor India also showed impressive growth.

  • February 2025 sales: 4,314 units

  • Growth: about 117%

The hybrid technology and improved fuel efficiency have played a key role in boosting its demand.
