JSW MG Motor’s upcoming hybrid SUV has once again been spotted testing in India, hinting that the brand is moving fast with its next big launch. According to reports, the camouflaged test mule was seen on the Mumbai–Agra Highway near Indore, strengthening speculation that the model—likely to be called the Starlite 560—is in an advanced stage of development. This comes soon after MG teased its premium offering, the Majestic, signaling an aggressive product rollout strategy ahead of 2027.
The new SUV is expected to be a key part of MG’s hybrid-focused roadmap for India and will directly rival Mahindra XUV 7XO. Despite heavy camouflage, the SUV’s proportions suggest a bold and muscular stance, with a long and wide body that promises strong road presence. Design cues are likely to include a split headlamp setup with slim DRLs, a full-width LED light bar at the rear, large alloy wheels, and a boxy silhouette that blends ruggedness with a premium appeal.
Inside, MG is expected to load the SUV with features. Reports suggest a wheelbase around 60 mm longer than its main rival, translating into better cabin space and legroom. The interior may feature a large 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and advanced safety tech including ADAS. Powertrain options are likely to span petrol, hybrid, and electric variants, with the plug-in hybrid version expected to produce around 197 bhp, offering a balance of performance and efficiency. With manufacturing upgrades underway at MG’s Gujarat plant, this SUV could emerge as a strong new contender in India’s fast-heating mid-size SUV segment.
