In a remarkable feat ahead of its India launch, MG Motor’s upcoming SUV, the MG Majestor, has made headlines by entering the Guinness World Records. The SUV achieved this milestone by pulling a massive 406.4-ton train, showcasing its power and engineering capabilities.
The record-breaking event took place between Kakapora and Awantipora railway stations in Jammu and Kashmir. The train, led by a WAG-9HC locomotive, included passenger coaches and a guard’s coach. Impressively, the MG Majestor managed to pull this enormous load for a distance of 300 feet, surpassing the earlier benchmark of 400 tons over 100 feet, thereby setting a new global record.
What makes this achievement even more notable is that the SUV used for the attempt was a standard production model. According to the company, no modifications were made to the engine, drivetrain, or tires. The only addition was specialized rail wheels to ensure alignment on the tracks, meaning the core performance remained unchanged and true to what customers can expect.
Under the hood, the MG Majestor is powered by a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel engine producing around 212.5 bhp and 478.5 Nm of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It also comes equipped with a segment-first triple differential lock system (front, rear, and center) and an advanced four-wheel-drive setup featuring multiple off-road modes. These features played a key role in delivering the traction and torque needed for such a demanding task.
This record attempt was conducted under strict supervision, with all parameters such as train weight, distance, and track conditions carefully measured and verified. The goal was not just to set a record but also to demonstrate the SUV’s strength, durability, and real-world capability under extreme conditions.
With this achievement, MG Motor has positioned the Majestor as a strong contender in the SUV segment even before its official launch in India. The record highlights the vehicle’s ability to handle extreme loads and challenging terrains, giving it a distinct identity in a highly competitive market.
