Ullal has been the driving force behind Arista Networks since 2008. Under her strategic leadership, the company has strengthened its position in high-performance cloud networking. As per Forbes, Arista reported revenue of around $7 billion in 2024 — almost 20% growth over the previous year. Who is Jayshree Ullal?
Born on 27 March 1961 in London, Jayshree Ullal moved with her family to India at the age of five. Her father was a physicist and also worked closely with India’s Ministry of Education. Reports suggest that he played an instrumental role in shaping the foundation of the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Ullal completed her early education at Convent of Jesus and Mary in New Delhi before moving to the United States. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from San Francisco State University, followed by a Master of Science in Engineering Management from Santa Clara University in 1986.
Her remarkable contributions to technology and business leadership were honored in 2025 with an honorary doctorate in engineering.
A Successful Journey from Semiconductors to Silicon Valley Ace
Ullal started her career in the semiconductor industry, working with leading companies such as Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Fairchild Semiconductor. Her rise accelerated at Crescendo Communications, where she served as Vice President of Marketing. When Cisco Systems acquired Crescendo in 1993, she played a pivotal leadership role in expanding Cisco’s networking business.
In 2008, she joined Arista Networks as President and CEO — a decision that not only transformed the company but also cemented her legacy as a powerful business leader in Silicon Valley.
