A brutal daylight murder in Meerut district has triggered widespread shock after a man allegedly shot dead his wife’s partner in full public view and later released a video claiming responsibility for the crime.

The incident occurred in the Hastinapur area, where the accused, identified as Pradeep, allegedly killed Sunil alias Surendra by firing multiple shots at close range. Videos of the incident and a subsequent self-recorded confession by the accused have gone viral on social media, prompting an intensive police manhunt.

Incident Caught on Camera

According to police sources, the viral footage shows the accused approaching the victim from behind as he was about to leave on a motorcycle. The accused allegedly fired at the victim, who collapsed on the road. He then reportedly fired again at close range before fleeing the scene.

Eyewitnesses stated that several people were present at the location at the time of the incident, but none intervened due to fear.

Video Confession and Threats

Soon after the murder, the accused released another video in which he allegedly admitted to the killing and made threatening statements. Police have confirmed that the video is part of the evidence being examined but have urged the public not to circulate it further.

In the video, the accused also levelled allegations against local police officials, claiming he was denied justice in earlier complaints. These claims are being separately verified.

Background of Dispute

According to preliminary investigation, the accused’s wife had left him around one and a half years ago and later married the deceased through a court marriage. Police say the accused had harboured resentment since then, and the murder appears to be the result of long-standing personal enmity.

Police Action

Following the incident, police teams from Bahsuma, Hastinapur, and nearby areas reached the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.

SP Rural Abhijeet Kumar and CO Mawana Pankaj Lavania inspected the scene. Based on a complaint filed by the victim’s cousin, a case has been registered against the accused and others for murder and criminal conspiracy.

The accused is currently absconding. Multiple teams, including a special operations unit, are conducting raids to arrest him. Additional police force has been deployed in the area to prevent unrest.

Police have stated that strict legal action will be taken and have appealed to the public not to spread unverified or graphic content related to the case.
