Maruti Suzuki Launches Maruti e Vitara at ₹10.99 Lakh Under BaaS Model; Set to Rival MG Windsor EV

Electric vehicle demand is rising rapidly in India, and Maruti Suzuki has officially entered the mass-market EV space with the launch of the Maruti e Vitara. The electric SUV is priced at an introductory ₹10.99 lakh under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, with an additional battery rental cost of ₹3.99 per kilometer. The company calls it a significant milestone in India’s electric mobility journey.

What is the BaaS Model?

Under the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, customers do not pay for the battery upfront. Instead, the vehicle is priced separately while the battery cost is charged on a per-kilometer usage basis. This lowers the initial purchase price, making EV ownership more affordable.

The e Vitara was first showcased at the Bharat Mobility Auto Expo 2025. Maruti Suzuki will manufacture the SUV in India and export it to over 200 countries. The model has already been introduced in select international markets, and Indian customers had been eagerly awaiting its official pricing.

Booking and Test Drive Details

Customers can visit NEXA showrooms or book online through the official NEXA website. The initial booking amount is ₹21,000.

Maruti Suzuki promises:

  • A simplified ownership experience

  • Reliable charging solutions

  • Long warranty coverage

  • Optional home charger installation

Note that the introductory BaaS price excludes road tax, insurance, and other government charges.

The e Vitara features a clean, modern design with a strong road presence. It measures:

  • Length: 4,275mm
