LPG Subsidy: New rules for LPG customers from October 1; if you want subsidy, do this today
Domestic LPG consumers will be required to complete biometric Aadhaar authentication (BAA) to receive LPG refills at the applicable subsidized rate, effective October 1, 2026, according to the Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
According to government data, biometric authentication has been completed for 274.3 million (89.9 percent) active domestic LPG consumers by September 19, 2026. Those who have already been authenticated will not need to undergo any further processing.
What happens if authentication is not done?
Customers who have not completed the BAA will not be deprived of LPG cylinders. However, they may be required to purchase non-subsidized cylinders at the applicable market price. There is also a provision for 5 kg or 10 kg cylinders, depending on availability.

How to do biometric authentication?
There are many options for you.
At the time of cylinder delivery: Authentication can be done from the delivery staff's device.
Gas Agency: This process can be completed by visiting the showroom of the concerned distributor.
Mobile App: This process can be done from home using the official app of the respective oil company.
The IndianOil One app can be used for Indane, HelloBPCL for Bharatgas, and HP Pay for HP Gas. According to the government, consumers are urged to complete their BAA before October 1. The LPG helpline 1800 2333 555 is available for assistance.
