LPG Shortage: Failure to complete these steps could result in the delivery of your cylinder being halted; Govt has changed the rules

Currently, there is a shortage of cooking gas in the country and people are facing difficulties. Due to increasing tensions in the Middle East, the demand for LPG in India seems to be increasing rapidly. Meanwhile, the Central Government has issued an important directive for domestic LPG consumers. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has said that it will be mandatory for all domestic gas connection holders to complete their biometric based e-KYC

What the government said:
According to media reports, the government has stated that if consumers do not complete this process on time, they may face problems with gas cylinder delivery or subsidy-related services in the future. The government says this step is to make the gas distribution system transparent and ensure that only eligible consumers receive LPG connections.

How can one do e-KYC from home?
The ministry has clarified that the e-KYC process is completely free and there is no need to visit the gas agency to do it; consumers can complete this process from the comfort of their homes using their smartphones. For this, consumers will first have to download the mobile app of their gas company. Domestic LPG in India is mainly supplied by government oil companies like Indane Gas, Bharat Gas and HP Gas. After logging into the app, one will have to select the e-KYC option and do Aadhaar-based verification.
