Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) has implemented new rules for booking LPG gas cylinders. These changes aim to curb black marketing and ensure timely delivery of gas to all customers. Here's a look at the changed rules and key points to note. The government and gas companies have implemented new booking rules, which have increased the gap between cylinder bookings. Different timelines have been set for different categories of customers.
The new cylinder booking rules are as follows:
Customers who have only one cylinder can book a refill only after 25 days.
Customers with two LPG cylinders will now have to wait 35 days before booking the next refill.
Beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will have to wait for 45 days for the next booking.
The new rules will particularly affect households with double-cylinder connections in urban areas. If a customer tries to book before the scheduled time, the system will not accept the request.
Rules for small cylinders
A time gap has also been set for smaller cylinders. For a 5 kg cylinder, this gap is between 9 and 16 days, while for a 10 kg cylinder, it is between 18 and 32 days. This time will be calculated from the delivery date, not from the previous booking.
Meanwhile, according to the government and oil companies, these regulations aim to better manage gas supplies. It is hoped that these will curb black marketing and ensure timely delivery to genuine customers. While these changes may cause some inconvenience, they are considered necessary to maintain a smooth and transparent supply system.
