Actress Keerthy Suresh has often spoken about her fitness transformation and the changes she made to her diet and workout routine. During an interview around 2018-19, she revealed that she preferred getting protein from natural foods rather than relying on protein shakes.
The actress reportedly lost around 9-10 kg during her transformation and later opened up about her approach to fitness. From egg whites and soy to paneer and lentils, her diet included several everyday foods that are naturally rich in protein.
Protein is an important part of a balanced diet, particularly when someone is trying to lose weight while maintaining muscle strength. However, individual nutritional requirements can vary depending on factors such as age, activity level and overall health.
Egg Whites Were Her Go-To Protein Source
One of the foods Keerthy Suresh mentioned as part of her diet was egg whites. She revealed that she consumed around six to seven egg whites a day and preferred them over protein shakes.
According to the actress, she chose egg whites because they felt like a more natural way of getting protein. While protein supplements can be convenient, whole foods can also provide substantial amounts of protein as part of a balanced diet.
She Also Relied on Vegetarian Protein Sources
Eggs weren't the only source of protein in Keerthy's diet. She also mentioned including foods such as soy, nuts, tofu, lentils, paneer and chickpeas.
These foods can be useful additions to a vegetarian or predominantly plant-based diet. Along with protein, many of them provide other nutrients that support overall health.
Keerthy also emphasized the importance of vegetables in her diet. A varied diet containing different food groups can help provide the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients required by the body.
Her Fitness Journey Wasn't Always About the Gym
Keerthy has also spoken openly about how her understanding of fitness changed over the years. When she began her career in 2013, she admitted that she didn't know much about fitness and initially believed that going to the gym wasn't really for her.
After the success of Mahanati in 2018, she decided to experiment with her fitness routine during a break. She started doing HIIT and cardio while following a high-protein, low-carbohydrate diet.
She Lost Around 10 Kg in Nine Months
According to Keerthy's own account, she lost around 10 kg over a period of nine months. Although she felt proud of her transformation, she also faced criticism, with some people claiming that her appearance was the result of surgery.
The actress said that she had always preferred keeping things natural and that it was upsetting to see her hard work being attributed to surgery.
Yoga Changed Her Approach to Fitness
In 2020, Keerthy added yoga to her routine and said that it brought a new sense of balance and confidence to her life.
Over time, she also came to understand the importance of strength training. What she initially thought wasn't suitable for her eventually became an important part of her fitness journey.
Her experience highlights that fitness doesn't necessarily mean following one particular workout or diet. Finding a sustainable combination of nutritious food, exercise, strength training and recovery can be more important than simply chasing quick weight-loss results.
A Balanced Approach Matters
Keerthy Suresh's diet and fitness routine are based on her personal experience and should not be treated as a universal weight-loss plan. Eating enough protein can be beneficial for maintaining muscle, but individual requirements differ.
Anyone planning a significant change to their diet or exercise routine should consider consulting a qualified nutritionist or healthcare professional, especially when following a restrictive diet or intensive workout programme.
