Kanpur Murder Case: Husband Arrested for Killing Wife Four Months After Love Marriage

A tragic incident has been reported from Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, where a man allegedly strangled his wife to death just four months after their love marriage. The accused later surrendered at the Maharajpur Police Station.

The incident took place in a rented room located above Muskan Hospital in New Hi-Tech City, within the Rooma area of the Maharajpur police station limits. The deceased woman has been identified as Shweta Singh, while the accused is her husband, Sachin Singh, a resident of Fatehpur district.

Accused Surrenders, Confesses to Crime

According to police officials, Sachin Singh arrived at the police station on Saturday morning in a distressed condition and told officers that he had strangled his wife. He informed the police that her body was lying wrapped in a blanket inside their rented room. Following this confession, police immediately detained him and initiated questioning.

Background of the Marriage

Police stated that Sachin and Shweta had entered into a court marriage four months ago without the consent of their families. Due to family opposition, the couple initially moved to Surat, where Sachin worked in a private factory. They later returned to Kanpur and began living in a rented accommodation in the Rooma area. Sachin earned his livelihood by driving an auto-rickshaw.

Events Leading to the Incident (As Per Accused’s Statement)

According to Sachin’s statement to the police, he returned home unexpectedly late at night on January 13. He alleged that he found his wife in a compromising situation with two young men who live nearby and are students of an engineering college. He further claimed that when he attempted to record the scene on his mobile phone, a scuffle ensued.

Police records indicate that following a disturbance, neighbors alerted the emergency helpline (112), and police arrived at the scene. All parties were taken to the police station, where they were questioned and later sent back, while the two young men were briefly detained.

Sachin alleged that after returning home, an argument broke out between him and his wife, during which he lost control and strangled her in a fit of rage in the early hours of the morning.

Investigation Underway

Police accompanied the accused to the crime scene, where Shweta’s body was recovered from the room. A forensic team collected evidence, and the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.

Investigators are also examining financial transactions allegedly made to Shweta’s account and are questioning the two young men mentioned in the case. Police officials said the matter appears to involve alleged illicit relations, but emphasized that conclusions will be drawn only after the investigation and post-mortem report are complete.
