When will Jagannath Rath Yatra 2026 begin?
According to the Hindu calendar, Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra begins on the second day of the bright fortnight of the month of Ashadha. This year, the Rath Yatra will begin on Thursday, July 16th. During this Rath Yatra, Lord Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and his sister Subhadra will depart from the temple seated in their magnificent chariots. This Rath Yatra will proceed to the Gundicha Temple. The Rath Yatra will return from here after eight days, known as the Bahuda Yatra.

How to reach Puri by road, rail and air?
Puri is connected by road to major cities in Odisha. The distance from Bhubaneswar to Puri is approximately 60 kilometers, which can be covered in about 1.5 hours by car, taxi, or bus. Private buses are available from other cities to Puri.
Direct trains to Puri are available from Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Patna. If there is no direct train to Puri from your city, you can first reach Bhubaneswar or Khurda Road and then take a train to Puri.
The nearest airport to Puri is Biju Patnaik International Airport (Bhubaneswar), which is approximately 60–65 kilometers from Puri.

Where to watch Jagannath Rath Yatra?
The Rath Yatra passes through Puri's famous Grand Road (Bada Danda). For a comfortable viewing experience, book a hotel on this road in advance to avoid any hassle later. Devotees traveling without a reservation should arrive early in the morning and secure their seats on the route.
