A heartbreaking incident has come to light from Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, where a 32-year-old man named Mayank Sharma allegedly died by suicide after accusing his wife and her family of mental harassment. Before taking this extreme step, Mayank posted a WhatsApp status naming his wife, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, and her husband as responsible for his death.
Mayank, who ran a tea stall in the Ghampaur area, was married to 29-year-old Diksha Sharma since 2017. The couple had two daughters, aged 6 and 3. According to Mayank’s family, their relationship began deteriorating when he discovered that Diksha was allegedly in contact with another man named Sanjay Sahu. The issue reportedly led to regular conflicts at home.
Tensions Escalated with Police Complaint and Threats
As per reports, Diksha left her marital home following repeated disputes and later filed a domestic violence complaint against Mayank at Tilwara police station on April 15. Just two days after the complaint, on April 17, Mayank attempted suicide by consuming poison but was saved by timely medical intervention.
Mayank's relatives claimed that he found disturbing messages and call records on Diksha’s phone, which confirmed her alleged extramarital affair. They also said that despite trying to resolve matters, Diksha continued to harass him and even threatened to falsely implicate him further.
Final WhatsApp Status Before Death
Unable to cope with the pressure and humiliation, Mayank reportedly hanged himself at home after posting a WhatsApp status blaming his wife and her relatives for his condition. His brother, Nirjan Sharma, said the family had previously tried to alert police, but no serious action was taken after their initial complaint. Now, a fresh application has been submitted at Ghampaur police station demanding action.
Police Begin Investigation
The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) has directed the local police to thoroughly investigate the WhatsApp status and surrounding circumstances. Station in-charge has been asked to take appropriate action following the inquiry.
This tragic case has once again raised questions about the handling of domestic disputes, mental health challenges in families, and the role of timely intervention. Mayank’s death has left his two daughters without their father, and his grieving family is now seeking justice.
