The sci-fi mystery series From captured global attention when it debuted in 2022. What started as an underrated gem quickly became a massive hit, fueled by internet hype and mind-bending twists. For three seasons, viewers were hooked as the narrative pushed boundaries—culminating in the shocking revelation that Tabitha and Jed were trapped in a cycle of reincarnation to save sacrificed children.
However, after a jaw-dropping Season 3 finale where the Man in Yellow brutally killed Jim in front of Julie, fans expected Season 4 to hit the ground running. Instead, viewers feel the creators are dragging their feet, offering zero substantial answers.
The Core Issue: Too Much Talking, Too Little Action
The biggest complaint surrounding the current season is that the narrative has stalled. The characters seem trapped in endless loops of dialogue that lead absolutely nowhere.
-
Inconsistent Villains: The Man in Yellow initially terrified audiences by masquerading as Sofia. Yet, in the latest episode, the character is inexplicably seen clashing glasses with Victor’s father, completely deflating the tension.
-
Aimless Character Arcs: Fatima has spent the last three episodes crafting a Gollum figure. Now that it’s finished, she has no idea what to do with it, leaving her asking Alice, "Am I crazy?"—a sentiment many viewers currently share.
-
Baffling Plot Choices: In the previous episode, Donna, Tabitha, and Ethan were attacked by dolls. Yet, the show instantly sidelines Donna with a sudden heart attack. Fans are left asking: What was the point of saving her from the monsters just to put her in a hospital bed?
Character Frustrations Reach an All-Time High
The town's residents seem entirely incapable of communicating with one another, leading to massive viewer frustration:
Boyd's Hypocrisy: Boyd wants to save everyone and urges the townspeople to find answers. Yet, whenever someone brings him a lead, he refuses to believe them.
The Culture of Secrecy: Julie goes on a "story walk" with Randall but ends up in the wrong place, finding nothing—and tells no one. Ethan searches for the Lake of Tears, fails, and keeps it to himself. Tabitha wants to find the lighthouse but refuses to actually go there. Meanwhile, Boyd's discovery of a mysterious ring is completely ignored.
Fan Backlash Explodes on X (Formerly Twitter)
Disappointed viewers took to social media to voice their anger over the pacing of the latest episode, calling out the lazy writing:
-
"Every episode except the first one feels like filler. It's badly written and really boring. It's my fault for having such high expectations for a series."
-
"What an episode! We waited two weeks for it. Seriously... it was torture."
The Verdict
From built its reputation on compelling mysteries, but it has now piled on so many questions that audiences can barely keep track of them. Instead of unraveling the mythology of Fromeville, the show feels stagnant. With fans growing increasingly impatient, all eyes are now on Episode 7 to see if the show can finally get back on track.
