IPL 2026: Punjab registers this unwanted record after losing to Delhi

Delhi Capitals defeated Punjab Kings in the IPL on Monday. Axar Patel and David Miller smashed fifties, followed by lethal bowling from Mitchell Starc and Madhav Tiwari, secured the victory.
Punjab, batting first after losing the toss in the IPL match played in Dharamsala on Monday, scored 210 for five in 20 overs with the help of half-centuries from Priyansh Arya (56) and Shreyas Iyer (59). In reply, Delhi scored 216 for seven in 19 overs and won the match. For Punjab, Arshdeep and Yash Thakur took two wickets each, while Ben Dwarshuis and Marcus Stoinis took one wicket each.
Punjab registers unwanted record
This is Delhi's second-highest successful run chase against any team in the IPL. The team had previously achieved a target of 226 against Rajasthan in Jaipur. Meanwhile, Punjab added an unwanted record to its name. Punjab Kings became the first team in the IPL to record the most defeats while defending a score of over 200. The team has lost nine matches, while RCB (seven), Chennai (six), and Kolkata (five) are in second, third, and fourth place, respectively.
