South Africa got off to a shaky start, losing their top three wickets for just 20 runs. Quinton de Kock, Aiden Markram, and Ryan Rickelton departed early. However, David Miller and Dewald Brevis then put together a blistering 97-run partnership in 50 balls. This partnership brought the run rate to nearly 10 runs per over.
