India AI Impact Summit 2026: AI is also helping small farmers, providing information on everything from soil to crops

In this event organized at Bharat Mandapam under the government's IndiaAI Mission, it was told that AI is now becoming useful not only for big farmers but also for small and '>

The India AI Impact Summit 2026, being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, showcased the power of AI to help small farmers. The five-day summit showcased numerous AI tools and platforms that are easing farmers' challenges by providing information on everything from soil to crops. Let's explore how AI can help farmers.

Held at Bharat Mandapam, under the government's IndiaAI Mission, the event highlighted that AI is now becoming useful not just for large farmers, but also for small and marginal farmers. Several sessions at the summit, such as "AI for Smart and Resilient Agriculture" and "Casebook on AI and Agriculture," focused on how AI can be used for soil testing, crop disease detection, irrigation savings, and crop yield enhancement.

This tool has helped 22 lakh farmers

Maharashtra's MahaVISTAAR-AI platform was the most discussed platform at the summit. This AI-based conversational platform, operational since May 2025, has provided personalized crop advisories to over 2.2 million farmers. When small farmers speak on the phone in Hindi or the local language, the AI provides information on soil conditions, weather, pests and diseases, and market prices. It also works offline and runs on feature phones, thus eliminating the need for internet. The Maharashtra government stated that this is a game-changer for small farmers, as lab tests previously took weeks, but now information is available in seconds.

This AI tool reveals the intelligence of soil

Biome Makers' BeCrop AI platform, which demonstrates soil intelligence, was also on display. It analyzes soil samples using AI and provides predictive insights, revealing which nutrients are deficient in the soil and whether diseases are likely to occur. It's useful for small farmers because it's inexpensive and easy to use. The platform tracks soil health, improving crop quality and reducing chemical use, the summit explained.

This AI also works offline

CropScan Smart Farming IoT Technology is a handheld AI device that provides crop diagnostics and nutrient detection. Small farmers take a photo of their crop using their phone or small device. The AI detects disease, nutritional deficiencies, or pests. It works offline and provides advice in local languages. This helps farmers take immediate action and reduce crop losses.
