Bangladesh faces a potential crisis ahead of their crucial Asia Cup clash against India on September 24. Captain and wicketkeeper Litton Das sustained a back strain during a practice session at the ICC Academy Ground. While attempting a shot, Das pulled a muscle in his left groin and had to stop batting immediately.
Uncertainty Over Playing
The severity of Das’s injury is still being assessed. Team physio Bayazid Ul Islam treated him on the spot, but he eventually withdrew from practice. A Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official confirmed that Das is under evaluation, and only a thorough medical examination can determine whether he will be fit for the match. Missing the game against India would be a significant setback for Bangladesh.
Litton Das’s Asia Cup Performance
So far in the tournament, Litton Das has scored 119 runs at an average of 29.75, with a strike rate of 129.34. As both captain and wicketkeeper, his absence would leave a leadership void. Bangladesh will also have to decide who steps in as captain if he cannot play, adding pressure as they face the tournament’s unbeaten team, India.
