According to the police, Venkatesh and Triveni had a love marriage. They have two children, a daughter and a son. However, Venkatesh became suspicious of his wife and continued to harass her. On December 24th, Venkatesh attacked Triveni in front of the children, dousing her with petrol and setting her on fire. When his daughter tried to save her mother, he pushed her into the fire as well.

After committing the crime, the accused husband fled the house. Hearing the screams, neighbors rushed to their home. By then, Triveni had died from severe burns. Her daughter escaped with minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
