A disturbing incident on Patna’s Marine Drive on Monday evening has gone viral, showing a pregnant woman pleading with a police officer as he repeatedly drove a seized scooter toward her. The confrontation, which erupted over a traffic challan, caused panic among onlookers and sparked widespread outrage on social media.
According to reports, the woman and her husband had gone to visit JP Setu Ganga Path (popularly known as Marine Drive). While returning, instead of taking a proper U-turn, they attempted to turn the scooter from the wrong side of the road. A police team deployed in the area stopped them.
When the officers checked the scooter’s number plate, they found an unpaid challan already issued against the vehicle. The police then began the process of seizing the scooter. During this, tensions escalated.
The viral video shows the woman stepping in front of the scooter to stop the seizure. As the officer tried to move the scooter forward, the woman repeatedly screamed, “I’m pregnant, don’t do this… don’t run over me!” Despite her pleas, the policeman continued pushing ahead, leading to chaos at the spot.
Crowds gathered as the incident unfolded, with several bystanders recording videos on their phones. These clips quickly surfaced on social media, drawing widespread criticism.
So far, authorities have not released an official statement regarding the incident. The video, however, continues to circulate widely, raising serious questions about the conduct of both the traffic police and the couple involved.
