If you want a subsidy of Rs 300 on a gas cylinder, get your eKYC done before the 23rd, learn the step-by-step process

EKYC is mandatory for receiving the LPG subsidy. The previous deadline was August 16th, but it has now been extended to August 23rd.

Do you also receive a subsidy on your LPG cooking gas cylinder? Get your e-KYC done as soon as possible. If this isn't completed by August 23rd, forget about the subsidy. The deadline for this important task was set for August 16th, but it has now been extended by a week.

LPG consumers have been given another opportunity to complete e-KYC. Under this scheme, regular customers receive a subsidy of ₹79 per cooking gas cylinder, while under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, they receive a subsidy of ₹300. Under the PM Ujjwala Yojana, this subsidy is now available only on four cylinders per year. However, if you don't complete your eKYC before the deadline, you'll lose ₹1,200 annually. While your gas connection won't be canceled, you'll lose the subsidy.

How to do eKYC for LPG connection

The good news is that you don't need to visit a gas agency to complete your eKYC. You can do this from home using your mobile phone. To do this, you'll need to download the mobile app for the company whose connection you have. For example, if you have an Indian cylinder, download the "Indian Oil One" app from the Google Play Store. You'll also need to download the Aadhaar Face ID app.

  • Now login to the mobile app with your registered mobile number
  • Now enter your 16 digit LPG ID
  • Go to 'My Profile' and go to your LPG details section
  • Now tap on the eKYC option and read the guidelines and proceed further
  • Now scan your face, which will be matched with Aadhaar.
  • Submit your request and it will be processed within 24 to 48 hours.

Now, under the Ujjwala scheme, subsidy is only on 4 cylinders, not 9.

Previously, under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, subsidies were available on nine cylinders. However, the central government has now reduced this to four. If you meet the eligibility criteria, you can apply for the Ujjwala Yojana. The biggest advantage is that the cylinder will cost you ₹300 less than the market price. This money will be transferred to your account via DBT. However, remember that the application for the scheme must be in the name of the female head of the family.
