Gorakhpur Fake IAS Groom: The girl's side said that when they contacted Pritam Kumar Nishad, he introduced himself as an IAS officer and claimed to be posted in Manikpur. To gain confidence, he sent them purported interviews with news channels, photos and videos of himself in his office and with some politicians.

Fake IAS Groom: A family from Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, fell victim to a fraud through a matrimony site. A young man from the state's Etawah district, claiming to be an IAS officer, married the family's daughter on March 11th. He also extorted ₹1.5 million from the girl's family in exchange for a non-engagement agreement. The wedding cost approximately ₹3 million.

The accused, posing as an IAS officer, had previously married twice. This was his third marriage. He is currently absconding with his family. Police have filed a case against the fake IAS officer and his family and have launched a search for them. Fortunately, the woman escaped from the accused's clutches in time, otherwise he would have been planning to sell her.

Biodata found in Nishad marriage group

The girl's father, who lives in Mohaddipur, under the Cantonment police station area of ​​Gorakhpur, told the police in his complaint that he was looking for a match for his daughter. He found Pritam Kumar Nishad's biodata through a Nishad marriage group. Pritam is a resident of Ludhiyat Mohalla, under the Iqdil police station area of ​​Etawah, and claims to be the son of Shivpal Singh Nishad.

Deceived by showing interviews and photographs with politicians

The girl's side said that when they contacted Pritam Kumar Nishad, he introduced himself as an IAS officer and claimed to be posted in Manikpur. To gain confidence, he sent photos and videos of himself in his office and with certain politicians, along with alleged interviews he had given to news channels.

Three days before the engagement, he demanded Rs 15 lakh

During the conversation, fake IAS officer Pritam said that he would marry without dowry, but the girl should be of his choice. The family fell into his trap and arranged the marriage. Three days before the engagement, Pritam demanded 15 lakh rupees from the girl's side as expenses. He also made it clear that if the money was not given, he would not marry. The family, already dreaming of marrying their daughter off, was forced to give 10 lakh rupees in cash to Pritam on the day of the engagement. The remaining 5 lakh rupees were given during the Tilak ceremony on the wedding day.

The wedding cost Rs 30 lakh

According to the victim's family, the wedding took place on March 11, 2026, at the Durga Marriage Lawn in Nandanagar, Gorakhpur, and the family spent approximately 3 million rupees. Accommodation for the wedding party was arranged at a hotel in Mohaddipur.

A man who came to the wedding exposed a fake IAS officer

On March 12th, after the bride's departure, a man who had come to the wedding informed the bride's family that their son-in-law, Pritam, was not an IAS officer but had married a fake officer. The family then went to the address he had provided and found their daughter in a small room, while the accused, Pritam, and his sister fled the scene.

The bride said – they were taking her to Goa to sell her

Meanwhile, after returning home, the bride's family was shocked by what she told them. She said that on the way, the accused, Pritam, was planning to take her to Goa and sell her. The victim's family alleges that the accused is a cunning fraudster who preys on girls and their families by using fake positions and documents.

Police are searching for the accused

SSP Dr. Kaustubh stated that the Gorakhpur Cantt police have registered a case and begun searching for the accused. He added that the police suspect the accused and his gang may also be involved in the trafficking of girls. They will be arrested as soon as possible.
