Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor, known for seamlessly transitioning from romantic roles to intense performances, is making headlines—not for a film, but for a deeply personal revelation. In a recent interaction, Ranbir spoke candidly about fatherhood, his bond with his daughter Raha, and the emotional distance he once shared with his late father, Rishi Kapoor.
Having grown up in the spotlight of one of Bollywood’s most iconic families, Ranbir admitted that his relationship with his father was respectful but not friendship-like. Today, as a father himself, he wants to change that dynamic for the next generation.
Fatherhood Changed Everything for Ranbir
The birth of Ranbir and Alia Bhatt’s daughter, Raha, in November 2022 marked a profound shift in his life. Ranbir described fatherhood not as a responsibility, but as an emotional journey that reshaped his perspective.
He shared that he wants to raise Raha in an environment built on communication, openness, and trust—something he felt was missing in his own upbringing.
“It Wasn’t a Friendship-Like Relationship”
Reflecting on his bond with Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir said that their relationship carried an unspoken distance, something common in parents of that generation.
“It wasn’t a friendship-like relationship,” he admitted, explaining that emotional expression wasn’t as openly encouraged back then.
Despite the love and respect he had for his father, Ranbir believes times have changed—and parenting should evolve with them.
“I Want to Break That Wall”
Speaking about his approach to parenting Raha, Ranbir said,
“I want to break that glass ceiling with my child. I want to be her friend and give her wings—to let her fly in whichever direction she chooses.”
His words struck a chord with many, highlighting a desire to move away from rigid parenting styles and toward a more emotionally connected bond.
Remembering Rishi Kapoor
Rishi Kapoor passed away in April 2020 after a prolonged battle with leukemia. Though their relationship had its complexities, the father-son duo shared many heartfelt moments that continue to resonate with fans.
Through his reflections, Ranbir Kapoor offered a rare glimpse into his emotional world—showing how loss, love, and fatherhood have shaped his journey, and how he hopes to build a gentler, more open bond with his daughter.
