After a string of shocking murder cases involving newlywed husbands—**like Raja Raghuvanshi of Indore and Saurabh Rajput of Meerut—fear seems to be seeping into marriages across parts of India. The latest bizarre incident comes from Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh, where a newly married man handed over his wife to her boyfriend without protest, declaring he didn’t want to meet the same fate.

Bride Vanishes During a Chaat Date

The incident took place in Saidpura village under Mughalsarai Kotwali. Shamsher, a local youth, married Khushi from Mawai Khurd on June 4, 2025. Just 10 days later, while out in the market enjoying chaat, Khushi suddenly disappeared.

Panicked, Shamsher searched everywhere but couldn’t find her. Eventually, he approached the Mughalsarai police station and filed a missing report.

Found with Lover in Varanasi

The police launched a search and recovered Khushi from Varanasi—not alone, but with her boyfriend Sonu, who reportedly lives in a nearby locality. When Shamsher was informed, he arrived at the station with his family, and a panchayat-style meeting was held.

There, Khushi openly declared her wish to live with her lover, saying she was an adult and had the right to decide for herself.

'Neither Do I Want to Be Killed in a Drum Nor a Ditch'

Shamsher, speaking to the media, said bluntly:

“I neither want to be packed in a drum like Saurabh, nor dumped in a ditch like Raja. I’m done.”

Citing examples of high-profile wife-led murders, Shamsher chose not to contest the matter. He refused to keep Khushi with him and agreed to her departure.

“All parties involved are adults. The girl clearly expressed her decision to stay with her lover. With mutual consent from all families, Khushi was handed over to Sonu.”
