A horrifying incident occurred late Sunday night in Mohalla Gurukulpuram, Pilibhit district, Uttar Pradesh. The discovery of the bodies of a husband and wife in the bathroom of their rented house created a stir in the area. Initial investigations suggest that the deaths were due to suffocation caused by a gas leak from a gas geyser. Police and forensic teams conducted an on-site investigation and sent the bodies to the district hospital for a post-mortem.

Details of the incident:
The victims, Harjinder Singh (42) and his wife, Renu Saxena (40), lived in a rented house in Mohalla Gurukulpuram. Harjinder was a Class IV employee in the district's DRDA department. They had been married five years ago. On Sunday night, they went to the bathroom and did not emerge. The bathroom door was locked from the inside. Harjinder was fully clothed and wearing shoes, while Renu was bathing. The bathroom housed a gas geyser and cylinder, which is suspected to have caused a gas leak and suffocation due to lack of oxygen.

Neighbors reported
Neighbors  after seeing clothes drying on the terrace in the evening, calling Renu, but receiving no response. Harjinder was called, but he also wouldn't answer. Suspicious, the police were informed. Kotwali police and a forensic team broke into the bathroom door and went inside, where the bodies of both were found. ASP Vikram Dahiya and CO City Deepak Chaturvedi also arrived at the scene.

An examination of the woman's hand injury revealed that Renu's left hand was fractured and plastered. Police suspect that Harjinder was bathing his wife, causing a gas leak. Lack of ventilation in the closed bathroom led to the accumulation of carbon monoxide, which proved fatal.

Police statement:
ASP Vikram Dahiya stated that preliminary investigations indicate the cause of death was suffocation due to a gas leak from the geyser. The exact cause will be clear only after the postmortem report. Police are conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, and the forensic team has collected samples from the scene.
