Holi date changed due to eclipse and Bhadra, knows when will Holika Dahan take place and when is Holi of colors?
Holika Dahan

This year, confusion has reigned regarding the Holi festival due to the date, Bhadra, and the lunar eclipse. After a long time, there will be a one-day gap between Holika Puja and the festival of colors. Astrologers say that due to the eclipse and Bhadra, special care must be taken when determining the date.

According to astrological calculations, the Falgun Purnima Tithi will begin at 5:56 pm on March 2nd and last until 5:08 pm on March 3rd. A lunar eclipse is also coinciding with this day. The scriptures prescribe that Holika Dahan be performed during the Pradosh period on the Purnima Tithi, but burning during Bhadra Mukha is considered prohibited.

According to Acharya Dr. Sushant Raj, Pradosh Kaal will be from 6:22 pm to 8:53 pm on March 2nd. Bhadra will be present during this time, but Bhadra Mukha will not be there. Therefore, burning Holika during this time is considered sin-free. However, Bhadra’s time will begin from 5:56 pm on March 2nd and will last until 5:28 am on March 3rd. Therefore, after Bhadra ends, burning Holika before sunrise on March 3rd, at 5:29 am, is also an option.

Mathematics changed due to lunar eclipse
According to Acharya Pawan Pathak, cremation was possible during the Pradosh time on March 3rd. However, due to the lunar eclipse, the rules of the eclipse will apply. According to the scriptures, if there is a Grastodaya eclipse the next day, then Bhadra should be avoided and cremation should be performed during the fourth yam of the night or Vishti Puchh period. Based on this, some scholars are advocating for cremation on the morning of March 3rd.

When will the festival of colours be celebrated?
The full moon will last until the evening of March 3rd, so Holi of colors will not be played on that day. The festival of colors will be celebrated on March 4th, Chaitra Krishna Pratipada. Thus, this time, March 2nd (evening): Holika Dahan (main auspicious time), March 3rd (morning option): Burning possible after the end of Bhadra, and March 4th: The festival of colors will take place.

Preparations begin in Doon for Holi
Preparations for Holi are in full swing in Dehradun city. Holika bonfires have been decorated in several areas, including Saharanpur Road, Niranjanpur, Mandi area, Majra, Param Vihar, and Prince Chowk. In many places, bonfires have been prepared using cow dung cakes and wood. This year, Holika bonfires bring special astrological coincidences, so devotees are preparing to worship and burn the bonfire only after observing the auspicious time.
